Denise is the intern minister at Bradford Community Unitarian Universalist Church in Kenosha, WI.
Denise Cawley is a pivotal player working on diversity, inclusion, intersectionality, marriage equality and voting rights in Milwaukee and Door County, Wisconsin. She has led nationally acclaimed campaigns addressing access to voting, visibility of LGBTQ families and was integral in filling the plaintiff class for marriage equality in Wisconsin. Denise’s first career as a marketing and public relations professional married her love of visual arts and communication. Additionally, Denise enjoys teaching diversity and inclusion techniques to organizations, assisting them to identify and articulate the organization’s soul and how they express that to the world.
Other areas of expertise include fiber arts, including quilted paintings, fabric dyeing and drawing — which she considers an extension of her spiritual practice. Gardening and cooking are a large part of how she enriches her family life,
This past year, Denise has answered a lifelong calling to become a Unitarian Universalist minister and began seminary at Meadville Lombard. As part of her education, Denise volunteers at Planned Parenthood in the procedure and recovery rooms of the Milwaukee abortion clinic, providing spiritual and emotional support to patients.
